The 6th annual Toronto International Outrigger Challenge is set to go with two days of competitive racing and fun on July 9 and 10 at the Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club.
The event is the largest outrigger canoe race in eastern Canada, and last year had 186 competitors. Basic Registration is $60 for two days and includes breakfast and lunch both days, plus the Luau Dinner on Saturday. Early registration is encouraged – the first 100 registrants receive a race-branded 5-litre dry bag.

ABOUT OUTRIGGER CANOE RACING
Outrigger canoeing has grown from its roots in Polynesia to become a very popular paddling sport, with numerous sporting and social clubs located around the world. Outrigger canoes have an ama (outrigger float) connected to the main hull by spars called ʻiako. The ama, which is usually rigged on the left side, provides stability.

ABOUT TORONTO SAILING & CANOE CLUB (TS&CC)
Founded in 1880, the TS&CC is a non-profit, volunteer-run sailing and paddling club located on Humber Bay on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Operated by an enthusiastic group of sailors and paddlers, the club offers racing, recreation and instruction. In 2006, the TS&CC became part of the ECORA schedule and the OC-6 races are now part of the Point-Series Races.
